Program: The Biggest Trees of New York
Presented by Ferdinand (Fred) M. Breglia
Executive Director – The Landis Arboretum
Join Certified Arborist and Big Tree Hunter Fred Breglia to learn about the biggest trees and oldest forests in New York State and beyond.
Fred will also discuss the characteristics of old growth forests, and the places to see them.
Many are in the Capital Region!
The Landis Arboretum is a private, not-for-profit organization supporting a large, public garden near Esperance, NY. The Arboretum, comprising hundreds of acres, overlooks historic Schoharie Valley. 40 acres of the arboretum is devoted to noteworthy plant collections and gardens. Among the Landis Arboretum’s horticultural features is a labeled collection of nearly all trees, shrubs, and vines native to New York State.
This educational program is open to the public.

Program: The Plant Health Benefits of Pruning Trees and Shrubs
Presented by Jessica Luse, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE).
Jessica is Manager, Community Horticulture & General Agriculture at Saratoga County CCE.
Of the many ways we work to improve the health of our landscape, pruning is among the most important. Jessica Luse will discuss the benefits of this practice such as maintenance of health and aesthetics, controlling growth, encouraging flower and fruit production, rejuvenating old or overgrown plants, and protecting people and property. She will also talk about essential “tools of the trade” for homeowners.

Program: Garden Trivia and Little-Known Facts
Fellow Members Eileen Hurley and Barb Millington will engage the club in a game of “The Garden of Trivial Pursuit”. The purpose of the game is to learn and share unusual and helpful garden tips, facts, and solutions while having fun testing our own knowledge and that of our gardening friends!
